West Park Central Pupil Referral Unit ( PRU ) is a specialist education unit based in Leeds. It offers alternative educational provision in an environment dedicated to helping vulnerable and disaffected children. The ethos of the PRU is to provide both specialist education and welfare support to the children who are referred to them. The PRU provides an 'Engage, Empower and Excel' approach, which focuses on giving young people the skills, knowledge and confidence to explore their potential fully. The PRU offers a range of curriculum programmes, afterschool and holiday activities, and work experience opportunities to young people aged 11-19 from the Leeds area. The PRU staff provide individualised learning plans, as well as mentoring and additional support to ensure the success of each student. The PRU works in collaboration with local schools and organisations to provide determent-led learning to ensure students gain the skills and qualifications necessary for later life.*
