Old Swinford Hospital is a Grade I listed building in Heath Lane, Stourbridge, DY8 1QX. It was built in 1642 as a home for boys aged 10-15 who were the orphans of soldiers of the English Civil War. The hospital was endowed by Sir Thomas Foley, who wanted to provide an education and a better future for these children. The hospital has since been used for numerous purposes and is now owned and managed by the Birmingham Conservation Trust, which uses it as a museum and archive centre. The site contains a chapel, a museum, restored cloisters, a schoolroom and an exhibition of memorabilia and artefacts from the hospital's long history.*
